Drop-in renewable green jet fuel:

A sustainable proposition that becomes reality

The Israel Trade Commission (ITC) together with the United States Studies Centre (USSC) and the Australian Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (AISAF) are pleased to invite you to attend a boardroom lunch briefing by Professor Moti Herskowitz, Vice-President and Dean for R & D at Ben Gurion University – focusing on innovation and renewable fuels. The lunch will kindly be hosted by Baker & Mckenzie.

Professor Moti Herskowitz, professor of chemical engineering and researcher in the fields of advanced materials, catalysis and multiphase reactors, has been Vice-President and Dean for Research and Development since 2003. He has published over 120 papers and 22 patents based on basic and applied research in novel renewable and clean fuels as well as processes for their production. The Blechner Center, under the leadership of Professor Herskowitz, has succeeded in developing outstanding expertise in heterogeneous catalysis and catalytic processes. The scientific topics are related to fundamental aspects of novel catalytic nanomaterials.

ExxonMobil has announced recently that the Blechner Center is a partner in the development of a breakthrough technology that will facilitate on-board generation of hydrogen thus advancing the application of fuel cells for transportation. Another patented technology developed at the Blechner Center is the production of advanced, green diesel fuel from vegetable and animal oil. Professor Herskowitz is currently engaged in the development of liquid fuels production from carbon dioxide and hydrogen.

The lunch will be moderated by Dr Susan Pond AM, Chair of the Australian Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Fuels (AISAF) and
Vice President of the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering (ATSE). AISAF aims to secure the future of aviation through the commercial production of sustainable aviation fuels (SAF). AISAF is a coalition of the diverse participants from business, government and civil sectors who collectively create the various SAF supply chains. AISAF builds relationships, collects and shares data, identifies resources, challenges, gaps and opportunities and works collaboratively within Australia and internationally.

This boardroom lunch briefing is complimentary, however places are limited.

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a thought-provoking discussion on the future of alternative fuels and the innovative technologies that are shaping that future. The lunch will also offer a chance to explore partnership opportunities and promises to be an interesting and insightful event.

Gamatronic, the world class manufacturer of uninterruptible power supply systems, announced it will unveil the new Diamond in Backup Power. Gamatronic are introducing the modular high efficient Centric+ 25KVA-800KVA UPS, at its upcoming Energy Efficiency Summit being held on October 1st in Perth, Australia.

The event on 1st of Oct 2013 is being hosted by: The AICC Australia-Israel Chamber of Commerce, Power Shield, Gamatronic (Israel, TASE:GAMA) and The Israel Trade Commission, all joining hands in discussing and promoting the reduction of Energy Losses in Australia, as well as promoting the “Trade Friendship” bridge between Australia & Israel. The event will be attended by industry leaders involved in the backup power supplies world.  It will focus on new trends and innovations in efficient energy consumption leveraging off 45 years at the forefront of developing continuous, reliable, pure power and power protection solutions.

A key challenge in the 21st century is the distribution and conservation of power a challenge brought on by the increasing electrical requirements of such sophisticated systems as those used in data centres, mining, health care, the military, security, traffic control and telecommunications. This ever increasing demand puts undue strain on the electrical grid to maintain supply. This can lead to surges and spikes on the line as well as other problems such as brownouts, power sags, line noise, harmonic distortions, and frequency drift and even total power failure. Such problems can prove to be debilitating to businesses continuity. The UPS (Uninterrupted power supply) modularity using a small footprint was perfected through revolutionary research and development by Israeli electrical engineers.

In 2010, Gamatronic signed an exclusive agreement with Power Shield, an Australian company which understands Australia’s power problems and has been instrumental in solving them for thousands of businesses since its inception in the year 2000. Focused on providing customers with the cleanest and most reliable quality power, Power Shield is uncompromising in developing the best possible UPS technology. Together the companies continue to develop energy saving technologies for the unique requirements of the Australian market, influenced by the climate, aging power network and tyranny of distance. FMG, Nestle, The Peter Doherty Institute and BGC, are already reaping the benefits of the alliance and connection. The Director Sales and Marketing of Power Shield, Malcolm Levin, states “I see a major growth in the customer’s requirements for flexibility of power growth, higher efficiency in a smaller footprint, as well as a local lending hand to consult.”

Commenting on its decision to hold its initial Centric Product launch at the Energy Efficient Summit, Seth H. Davis, Global Business Development Manager of Gamatronic Electronic Industries, said: “The Gamatronic team is highly excited about unveiling our new Centric+ UPS in Australia. The Centric ticks all the boxes for modularity, power density, cost reduction, high efficiency, and capacity all bundled up into the smallest possible piece of equipment, at a competitive price”

Halman-Aldubi Energy and Director at Israel Opportunity Oil & Gas Exploration

WHEN:Tuesday, 15 October 2013 , 12:15 for 12:30 – 2:00pm
WHERE: Sydney, CBD
TICKETS: By invitation only

Israel’s offshore natural gas reserves could revolutionise the country’s economic status. According to the US Geological Survey there are an estimated 122 trillion cubic feet of undiscovered, recoverable natural gas and an estimated 1.7 billion barrels of undiscovered, recoverable oil in the Levant Basin Province in the eastern Mediterranean region.

With this find, Israel, a country once with little domestic energy resources, could save billions of dollars in energy imports and become a new natural gas source. Gas from the nearby Tamar field (10 trillion cubic feet) is expected to meet domestic demand for the next 25 years leaving Leviathan field (18.9 trillion cubic feet and an upcoming oil exploration drilling in 2014) free for export markets.

We are extremely privileged to be hosting one of Israel’s top authorities when it comes to opportunities, challenges and development in this game-changing industry sector for Israel.

Uri Aldubi

Founder and Partner of Halman-Aldubi Energy and Director at Israel Opportunity Oil & Gas Exploration Ltd.

Uri is the Chairman of the Halman-Aldubi Group investment group – one of the top ten privately owned financial institutions in Israel. The Company was established in December 1995 and specializes in provision of mid and long term savings products and business services through provident funds, pension funds, investment management for mutual funds and portfolio management products. The Group manages and operates over $4.5 Billion with approximately 350,000 accounts through three of the leading banks in Israel.

New Zealand is a small open economy. Following a comprehensive reform program that began in the mid-80s, the New Zealand economy is now largely deregulated, and more internationally competitive. The production base has diversified to include a range of elaborately transformed manufactures, while maintaining a large agriculture sector, which accounts for 70 per cent of exports. Services account for over two thirds of New Zealand’s real Gross Domestic Product (GDP), while manufacturing accounts for 12 per cent. In 2012, New Zealand’s main merchandise export markets were Australia (21.4 per cent), China (14.9 per cent), and the United States (9.2 per cent). New Zealand’s main sources of merchandise imports were China (16.3 per cent), Australia (15.3 per cent), and the United States (9.2 per cent). New Zealand recorded GDP growth of 2.5 per cent in 2012 with 2.7 per cent forecast for 2013.
